Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Income Maintenance Food & Nutrition Supervisor. The Income Maintenance Supervisor provides supervision, training, support, and leadership to a Food & Nutrition Unit and reports to the Economic Services Program Manager. Duties and Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Supervisor position is to guide and direct Income Maintenance workers in the Food and Nutrition Services.This position must have thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system and some knowledge of EIS.This position is also responsible for answering general inquiries by phone or in person and making referrals to other program areas or agencies in the community when needed.This position must be able to read, understand and adhere to program policy and guidelines set by the state.This position must be able to interview and communicate effectively with customers, other agency personnel, and the general public in person and via phone.This position is required to maintain and monitor continual compliance for all program requirements and respond to customer's need for assistance regarding their eligibility.This position is also responsible for ensuring training needs are met for staff.Also, this position is required to evaluate caseworker's work performance.This position is also responsible for assigning home visits as necessary as well as arranging transportation if needed for a client to get to a particular place to get information that is needed to complete an application or review.Other duties may be assigned such as Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of manuals, rules, and procedures used in determining eligibility.
- Thorough knowledge of investigative procedures and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the judicial systems.
- Considerable knowledge of agency's organizational rules, policies, and procedures.
- General knowledge of basic supervisory and management skills.
- General understanding of the budget and planning process.
- Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
- Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence to support actions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with applicants, community agencies, law enforcement agencies, and judiciary personnel to obtain or present pertinent data, and to negotiate agreements and/or cooperation between affected parties.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the general public, and the judicial system.
- Ability to present information orally or in written form.
Desired Education and Experience Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program, preferably with one year of supervisory experience; oran equivalent combination of training and experience.*Please document all work history relevant to the position for which you are applying.
