Job Title: Industrial Engineer
Position Summary: The Industrial Engineer is responsible for increasing efficiency, reducing cost and time, improving quality, and eliminating at risk conditions to improve worker safety. This is done by analyzing our current production processes, brainstorming, benchmarking, utilizing teams where appropriate and implementing changes necessary to achieve results.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Analyze our current production processes and design a sequence of operations (flow) to increase efficiency and maximize utilization of production personnel.
• Assist in establishing accident prevention methods.
• Develop training for process and equipment changes for production personnel.
• Analyze our current processes on cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production records and systems.
• Establish and lead continuous improvement, lean, and 5S initiatives to increase efforts in cost reduction, quality control, scheduling, and/or safety.
• Lead facility, equipment, fixturing, and tooling acquisition and implementation and/or utilization efforts.
• Create and organize capital and overhead expenditures for current and future plans.
• Communicate with internal customers regularly concerning project progress and improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications and knowledge are necessary to successfully perform this job:
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word); Microsoft Access, Visio, and SharePoint experience a plus
• Computer-aided drafting skills (AutoCAD) a plus.
Skills and Experience:
The following are required for this position:
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Systems Engineering or the equivalent in technical training.
• Shipyard experience with new-build vessel construction, upgrades, conversions, or repairs is required.
• Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement projects.
• Six Sigma or Lean Certification is preferred.
