Job Summary:

We are currently looking for an individual to joint our Arizona Division of Occupational Safety & Health (ADOSH) team, which is tasked with conducting compliance assistance visits throughout Arizona. Our visits help employers understand what OSHA and consensus standards that apply in the workplace.

Industrial Hygiene Technicians will work under close supervision in learning determine and enforce occupational health and safety and public and private establishments in construction, general industry, agriculture, and public entities.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

? The successful candidate will be required to attend 12 OSHA Training Institute, OSHA Training Institute Education Center or third-party safety and health training

? Enter basic information into the ADOSH Salesforce system

? Answer routine calls for complaints, referrals or general questions related to the OSHA standards and enter them into the Salesforce system for staging as a Compliance Assistance Activity

? Contribute to AMS process within the Division

? Visit, observe and document hazards related to an inspection crated by a Industrial Hygienist

? Assist with and learns to conduct Opening Conference, walkaround inspection and Closing Conference

? Learn to apply the Arizona Field Operations Manual (FOM) and adopted Program Changes

? Review and contact employers for abatement information related to a past ADOSH inspections

? Learns, uses, calibrates and demonstrates how to efficiently use Industrial Hygiene monitoring equipment for us in the field

? Learns how to monitor for noise, chemical, heat and lead

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

* ADOSH Field Operations Manual (FOM)

* ICA Policies and Procedures

* ADOSH Policies and Procedures

* OSHA standards as well as applicable consensus standards

* Federal and state occupational safety and health standards applicable to public and private establishments

* Industrial and construction building standards, manufacturing processes and work techniques to recommend new methods to minimize or eliminate hazardous operations, conditions and practices

* Knowledge of Windows, Google, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Smartphone Apps and ADOSH Sales-force system

Skill in:

* Oral and written communication and maintaining interpersonal relationship

* Learning to develop technical reports and spreadsheets

* Leadership

* Learning to develop detailed outreach training material

* Analysis and application of logic

* Public speaking

* Computer usage

* Data analysis

* In determining cost effective and appropriate corrective measures to minimize workplace safety hazards.

* Understand differing viewpoints, as well as ensuring persons with diverse perspectives are given the opportunity to collaborate and provide input in the decision making process

Selective Preference(s):

Ideal candidates will have:

* Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: relevant degree from an accredited college or university, coursework and work experience relevant to the assignment.

* Contributed to the health and safety of a workplace through routine training and education. Helped with companies or public entity safety and health programs as a contributor or safety technician. Helped and contributed to the company's safety and health committee to evaluate safety and health culture in the workplace. Helped with the company's near-miss or accident investigation team with root cause analysis. Completed several or more ADOSH, OSHA OTI or third-party safety and health classes. Helped to develop a safety or health training class for peers or employees on a construction site or general industry settings. Worked in a chemical, biology or microbiology lab analyzing chemicals, tissue, organisms or other data points for a study or research.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Arizona Driver's License:

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C)R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

You will be eligible to participate in the state employee health/disability insurance plan, and you are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). ASRS participation may begin immediately or upon your 27th week of employment. Contributions are matched by the employer.
