Industrial Mechanic - MAFE Resources : Job Details

As a Sewing Machine Mechanic you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of our sewing machinery. This position involves a variety of tasks centered around the repair, maintenance, and operation of industrial sewing machines. You will be responsible for performing both scheduled and unscheduled repairs, as well as preventative maintenance to keep our machines running smoothly. This includes adjusting parts, regulating the needle, and replacing any worn or broken components.

Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing problems and troubleshooting issues to ensure that all equipment operates at peak efficiency. In addition to maintenance and repair tasks, you will also be involved in setting up and adjusting machinery for new products and patterns. This requires a keen understanding of the machinery and the ability to adapt to different sewing requirements. You will assist sewing machine operators in learning how to properly set up and operate the machines, providing training and support to ensure they can work effectively and safely.

Maintaining accurate records, files, and reports will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will communicating ideas and instructions clearly to coordinate with other staff and departments. Additionally, you will evaluate new equipment and recommend changes and modifications to improve our operations and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Make unscheduled repairs on production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment during machine servicing.
• Read and interpret manuals in order to perform required maintenance and service.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust equipment.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment.
• Assist in training sewing machine operators in proper setup and operation of machines.
• Comply with safety rules and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience in repairing and maintaining industrial sewing machines.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
• Ability to set up and adjust machinery for various products and patterns.
• Experience in training others on equipment operation.
• Familiarity with operating sewing and embroidery equipment.
• Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects over 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to adjust focus.
