Industrial Service Technician Apprentice are responsible for the delivery of all equipment and assisting in all aspects of installations. This includes learning certain fabrications, welding techniques, hydraulics, electrical, and trouble shooting of all styles compactors, balers, and augers. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions.Responsibilities of Position:Loads, secures, and delivers compactors, balers, and augers utilizing roll off trucks, roll back trucks, and trailers.Assists in sanding, grinding, cutting, welding and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and other equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.Grinds metal parts after welding.Welds steel using Mig and Arc welding equipment.Fabricates steel components on compactors.Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.Completes required paperwork utilizing computer system.Utilizes standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.Installs lids and wheels on containers.Paints repaired and/or new compactors. Professional interaction with internal and external customers.May assist in other projects or areas of the shop as needed.Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.Professional interaction with internal and external customers.Other duties as assigned.Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:Basic knowledge of welding and cutting.Basic small shop tools and electrical knowledge.Moderate welding and mechanical aptitude.Knowledge of MIG/ARC and stick welding.Cutting torch skills; ability to use plasma cutter.Ability to operate a forklift safely.Familiarity with using a computer. Familiarity with roll off truck operations, Trailers operations and load securement.Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and externalcustomers. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:Continuously lifting/carrying a max of 35lbs, Frequently up to 75lbs, and often up to 100lbsFrequently pushing/pulling a max of 75lbs.Frequently Stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawlingFrequently Climbing and/or balancingContinuously working outsideContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, other airborne matter.Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.Must be at least 19 years of age.No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.Exposure to residential and commercial waste.Ability to travel between offices, as required.Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.Legally eligible to work in the United States.Valid driver's license (if applicable).Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.Must be able to read and speak the English language.This job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and/or skills required.
