Location: Jackson North Medical Center -160 NW 170th St, North Miami Beach, FL 33169Department: JN Quality Assurance Status: Full-Time Shift: 8 hours, flexible SummaryThe Infection Control Coordinator assists with HAI prevention programs, acts as a resource for HAI surveillance reporting at the hospital level, participates in research projects, assists in the development and implementation of infection prevention policies and procedures, and other duties as assigned.ResponsibilitiesImplements County, State, Federal, and regulatory agencies'¢ requirements and guidelines and particularly the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, AHCA and Occupational Safety Healthcare Administration (OSHA). Maintains current knowledge, plans and implements changes as necessary. Coordinates/completes other special projects as required by administration/ medical staff. Provides input with respect to revisions to the Infection Prevention program and staff assignments, in conjunction with other supervisors, for the benefit of the total program. Serves as administrative support for the Infection Prevention Committee. Applies knowledge base of microbiology, epidemiology and communicable diseases to analyze and interpret data in order to identify significant prevalence of nosocomial infections and communicable diseases or possible identifiable trends or clusters of infections. Analyzes data which has been collected, evaluates current practices, draws conclusions, make recommendations and/or changes as appropriate, and monitors the status of the resolutions of identified issues. Performs all job duties of Infection Preventionist with modified assignment. Responsible for infection control studies/outbreak work-up/epidemiologic investigation as deemed necessary. Maintains current knowledge of communicable diseases and impact on patients, employees, visitors and the public. Maintains open channels of communication and effective working relationships with medical staff, nursing staff, ancillary department personnel and peers. Maintains accurate logs, statistics and/or files as required regarding work activity, completes them in a timely manner and enters data in computer as required. Prepares and/or presents information to appropriate committees/forums as requested. Actively participates on committees and quality improvement teams as related to infection control. Maintains strict confidentially of all information discovered in the review process. Develops hospital policies and procedures relating to Infection Control practices, as well as review the existing policies and procedures. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities. Provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, continually monitoring, evaluating and improving the quality of services provided. Clearly communicates the organizational mission and vision to all staff. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.ExperienceGenerally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.EducationHigh school diploma is required. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.CredentialsAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.Working ConditionsPhysical Requirements - Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.
