As an Infection Control Epidemiologist at HCMC, you'll:
Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention program within Howard County Medical Center.
Implement the Infection Prevention program in your area of responsibility to drive change.
Continuously evaluate all policies, procedures, and practices relating to infection prevention and control within the institution to ensure all evidence- based infection prevention practices are implemented, assuring optimum protection for all patients, visitors, and staff.
Conduct surveillance, provide education, lead performance improvement initiatives, and manage outbreaks and exposures.
Interact effectively with personnel in a wide range of hospital and university positions, implement infection control policies, teach informally and formally in both small and large group, and lead unit- based and facility wide performance improvement efforts.
Utilize knowledge of epidemiology, infectious diseases, modes of disease transmission, principles of infection control and prevention, performance improvement, and adult learning methods.
Be accountable to the Infection Control Manager for meeting these responsibilities.
What you'll bring:
2+ years of related work experience, which includes Infection Control, Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, Health Education, or Public Health.
Experience as an Infection Preventionist at a hospital is highly preferred.
Bachelor's degree required in Nursing, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or a related discipline.
Master's degree in Public Health or a related discipline preferred.
Ability to obtain Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire.
Knowledge of infection prevention and control, epidemiology, microbiology, clinical practice related to infection prevention, evidence-based infection prevention measures, healthcare- associated infections, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, adult education, regulatory requirements, and performance improvement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
