Join the Thompson Team as part of the Infection Prevention and Control team. This role is essential for maintaining patient safety and minimizing the risk of healthcare associated infections. Per Diem opportunityMain Function:
- Specializes in identifying, controlling and preventing outbreaks of infection in the healthcare setting and the community
- Provides support of infection prevention and control practices through collaboration, surveillance, auditing, and education efforts
- Assists in quality and safety initiatives and goals to promote health and wellbeing of both patients and staff
- Responsible for surveillance, reporting to appropriate entities, policy and procedure development and compliance to regulatory and best standards
Job Specific Competencies:
- Demonstrate skill in problem solving, communication, leadership and time management with knowledge of infectious diseases and effort to prevent illness
- Exhibits the ability to work independently and flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assigned tasks and duties
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the healthcare team
- Guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited topatients, staff and the health system
Qualifications/Education:
- Required: Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Clinical Laboratory Services, Medical Technology or other related field
- Certification in Infection Control- preferred
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in health care- required
- Experience in infection prevention and control- preferred
