Job Description: UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a highly motivated Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacist to lead its Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. \n UPMC Western Maryland is a 224-bed nonprofit, acute care hospital located in Cumberland, Maryland. The hospital serves Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland, as well as neighboring counties in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and is part of the UPMC Health system. The ID Pharmacist will be responsible for daily stewardship activities and local oversight of the stewardship program. The pharmacist will collaborate with and receive support from UPMC Health System's Antimicrobial Stewardship leadership to leverage system resources and facilitate stewardship best practices locally. \n Other activities include: \n\nPerform daily stewardship via prospective audit with intervention and feedback to prescribers\nWork collaboratively with local hospital and pharmacy leadership, Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, Clinical Microbiology, and other relevant local leaders to improve antimicrobial stewardship practice and patient outcomes \nParticipate in both local and health system antimicrobial P&T subcommittees\nParticipate in UPMC's systemwide Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacist operations meeting and system stewardship collaborative\nProvide education to providers, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the local health care teams \nParticipate in the educational experience of pharmacy students during their Advanced Practice Pharmacy Experience rotations \n\nGraduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy\nB.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree; PharmD preferred.\nCurrent licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state\nCompletion of ASHP accredited PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency OR PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency plus 3 years clinical pharmacy experience in a specialized area OR 6 years clinical pharmacy experience in a specialized area.\nSpecialized knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice and service, comprehensive medication management, and evidence-based medicine in specialized area appropriate for clinical assignments\nBPS Board Certification preferred\n\n **Currently BPS recognizes fourteen specialties: ambulatory care pharmacy, cardiology pharmacy, compounded sterile preparations pharmacy, critical care pharmacy, emergency medicine pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, infectious diseases pharmacy, nuclear pharmacy, nutrition support pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, pediatric pharmacy, pharmacotherapy, psychiatric pharmacy and solid organ transplantation pharmacyLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:\n\nPharmacist\n\n UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
