Job Description:

This position is for the entire summer of 2025 (both A & B) with the potential for continued employment but not guaranteed

Student employees within the Reitz Union for this position must:

  • Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester

  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism

  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff

  • Possess a foundational understanding of Reitz Union services and facilities, along with a general knowledge of campus resources and directions

  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment

  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being productive, self-motivated, and dependable

  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations

  • Act as an ambassador for all Reitz Union areas as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources

  • Ability to work shifts during the early morning, evenings, and weekends

Position Specific Responsibilities:

  • Aide the University of Florida community and visitors by providing directions on locations throughout the Reitz Union, campus, and other destinations

  • Connect students, faculty, staff, and other patrons to the corresponding departments of interest during events that are located in the Reitz Union by attending to all phone calls, a two-way radio, and in-person requests about all event.

  • Managing all items that are lost by logging, tracking, and aiding guests as needed.

  • Complete all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion.

  • Ability to commit to working 10 or more hours per week.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Advertised Salary:

$13.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Summer 2025 (both A & B) availability is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Although no experience is necessary to apply to and all training will be provided, we would prefer for all student employees to:

  • Proficient with verbal and written communication

  • Demonstrate attention to professionalism, dependability, and timeliness

  • Demonstrate previous experience with customer service

  • CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain
