SALARY
The minimum salary is $50,217.44 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to inform and engage the residents of Lexington by creating content using all forms of communications.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job
* Four (4) years of related experience
* Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
* Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Researches and creates journalistic, emergency messaging and other content for LFUCG's communication efforts to include print, radio, television, social media, internal/external websites, special publications and alert and notification platforms
* Supervises, monitors, creates and schedules original content, responds to comments and conducts performance analysis for the City of Lexington's multiple social media accounts
* Takes and processes photos; manages and organizes the LFUCG photo repository while adhering to proper metadata standards and security protocols
* Operates and manages audio/visual computer software
* Reviews drafted materials; edits as required to ensure accuracy and completeness; makes revisions and corrections as needed
* Develop, maintain, update and deploy messaging through all available public channels to increase public awareness of LFUCG programs, services, projects, meetings, events, threats or emergencies
* Attends meetings, news conferences and field sites as a media representative and liaison for assigned LFUCG divisions, departments and outside agencies
* Organizes, coordinates, and/or assists with events
* Attends ongoing training to improve skills, practices, and systems
* Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
* For positions located in the Division of Emergency Management, FEMA Basic PIO class E/L0105, FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, 300 and CPR/First Aid/AED certification within the six (6) month probationary period and maintained as a condition of continued employment
