This Information Security Engineer II position operates in a support role implementing security, technology, and innovation within the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) environment. The GSOC operates 24x7x365. The GSOC plays a pivotal role in the Managed Services organization, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the Lumen Managed Security portfolio. This role performs security event management functions, including monitoring, detection, and triage of security events and alerts in a Security Information Event Monitor (SIEM) and associated monitoring systems. It facilitates the ingress, implementation, and egress of advanced client trouble/change requests for managed premise, cloud, next-generation firewall, managed DDoS, Threat Intelligence, and Secure Log Management products.The Information Security Engineer II is expected to perform as a shift lead, including basic shift lead duties, escalation support, and potential on-call responsibilities. This role also provides mentoring, training, and escalation support to frontline SOC personnel.

• Perform complex changes within the managed security environment
• Manage and resolve customer fault, service outage, and impairment events
• Monitor, triage, and respond to security alerts for client security events, including investigation and resolution of impairment scenarios on Managed Security products
• Research and implement customer-generated change requests for Managed Security products
• Generate incident cases and escalate to superordinate teams in accordance with time and severity-based SLAs
• Perform tasks associated with the installation, turn up, and maintenance of CenturyLink security infrastructure
• Present as a technical expert delivering solutions to clients, internal business, and third-party vendors. Develop enhancements to existing solutions and promote the creation of new tools, processes, and applications
• Directly support, train, and mentor new team members

Required (education/experience/skills/competencies):

• Requires a bachelor's degree in a related operational or technology field plus 3-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

• 1-3 years in a Security Operations environment as an Information Security Engineer I or similar role/job title.
• Certifications in specific security technologies such as Fortinet, Arbor, Radware, Palo Alto, Cisco, or Checkpoint

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$66,375 - $88,500 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY$69,694 - $92,925 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI$73,013 - $97,350 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
