Job SummaryThis position is responsible for the management and coordination of both the hardware and the software of the district's financial and student information systems. The position is also responsible for the reporting of student information to state agencies, including student apportionment and all data required by the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS). This position may be placed on the Classified Employee Unit (260 days a year) at MCUSD/MCOE and will be placed depending on experience on the Classified Employee Salary schedule on Range 25.Job Description / Essential Elements: INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND STUDENT DATA COORDINATORReports to: Director of Business ServicesEvaluated By: Chief Business OfficerClassification: ClassifiedSalary: Range 25Definition:This position is responsible for the management and coordination of both the hardware and the software of the district's financial and student information systems. The position is also responsible for the reporting of student information to state agencies, including student apportionment and all data required of the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS).Example of Duties:•Install, configure and maintain financial and student information system hardware and software on district servers and workstations.•Coordinate the diagnosis and repair the failures of the district's financial and student information systems hardware and software.•Administer and maintain user permissions, group permissions and passwords for the financial and student information systems.•Install new versions and releases of assigned software; monitor new releases and interact with vendor for support or corrective action.•Act as help desk for the student information system and student attendance for all users.Serve as district contact/systems manager for all student data management needs.•Audit site attendance and enrollment reports on a monthly basis, including supplemental programs. From these reports, prepare monthly district reports of enrollment, ADA and attendance and periodic reports to state agencies.•Design, develop, schedule and produce standard and customized reports on a scheduled orad hoc basis from the assigned software.•Plan, develop and distribute procedures and documentation of student information system;provide advisory and training support to district users as needed.•Communicate and coordinate with other members of the technology department with regard to assigned hardware and software.•Assist school site and other district personnel in the planning, development and definition of district procedures and requirements as related to assigned software.•Under the direction of the Director of Business Services, prepare and submit reports to stateagencies for apportionment and CALPADS within established time limits.•Coordinate the use and integration of third-party software with the student and financialinformation systems.Qualifications•AA or equivalent degree in computer information systems or related field (appropriate related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis)•Valid California Drivers licenseKnowledge of:•Basic training principles•Software applications used within the district•District organization, operations, policies and objectives•Applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws•Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment•Record-keeping techniques•Oral and written communication skills•Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary•Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesyAbility to:•Train and assist individuals in the use of assigned software•Organize and implement software installation and upgrades•Operate various data processing machines•Operate personal computers utilizing the Windows operating system•Coordinate student data collection•Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports•Initiate procedural modifications•Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action•Work independently with little direction•Meet schedules and timelines•Prioritize and schedule tasks•Provide both on-site and remote support for users•Communicate effectivelyWillingness to:•Work cooperatively with others in achieving common goals•Perform routine and repetitive work to completion•Train other employees•Travel with personal or district-provided transportation as required•Attend meetings, classes, conference and in-service trainingPhysical Characteristics:•Eyesight corrected or uncorrected sufficient to read fine print•Hearing with or without the use of hearing aid sufficient to hear normal and telephone conversations•Speech sufficient to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversational distance on the telephone and to address groups•Physical and emotional stamina to endure additional hours of work under sometimes stressful conditions•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written mode.Adopted: May 20, 2010Requirements / QualificationsA complete application packet will, at a minimum, include: A Complete Ed Join Employment Application > Cover Letter > Professional Resume** >Unofficial college transcripts (if applicable) > Letters of Professional Reference desired but not required (current, professional references will still be needed in the application) Current staff - please submit an EdJoin Application with the following information: > Letter of Introduction.
