Position Summary
This position offers an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of the IT team for our Transportation Logistics organization. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess strong analytical, organization, and communication skills. The candidate must have the ability to work with individuals from multiple business units at a variety of locations, external vendors, and a dynamic IT staff. The position includes enhancing and building out functionality for existing systems and working on discretionary efforts that directly affect business clients. This position offers opportunities for working with a team of IT professionals and business partners. Because of the criticality of some systems and processes, duties will occasionally require the candidate to be on call after-hours and/or weekends. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of business-critical software for the MPLX team while also providing leadership to the user group for their assigned systems. The position requires an individual with a strong background implementing, enhancing, and pushing the envelope for how we use our applications.
This position is a part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
· Work directly with business partners to understand their processes and to gather and document business requirements and priorities. Strong ability to get to the real nuts and bolts of a business process.
· Functionally understand and work to have expert knowledge of applications for which the role is responsible.
· Interface closely with vendors, sourcing partners, and other IT teams to collaboratively address business needs across multiple applications.
· Track and manage work in accordance with the Agile and Kanban methodologies (specifically SAFe).
· Identify digital opportunities to drive value for T&R organization.
· Help lead digital transformation for T&R organization.
· Manage SaaS vendor relationship and foster partnership to align application direction with internal needs
· Internally develop or work with third-party vendors to develop and deploy project solutions (e.g. SQL queries, configuration) per business requirements.
· Participate in change management activities and implement solutions in a timely manner.
· Provide system recommendations to management, business partners and peers.
· Understand the existing IT security and controls requirements of applications and client areas and utilize the appropriate process, controls, and documentation to ensure compliance.
· Lead projects through the entire life cycle of solution development utilizing the company's Project Management Process.
· Collaborate across the business units and help set the strategic direction and processes across the team.
· Play a key role in general IT initiatives by planning and implementing changes to various applications within given timelines.
· Organize work and prioritize items based on business value, effort, and company objectives.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
· 4 or more years of relevant work experience
Skills
· Experience with Trimble applications (PC Miler, TMW, TMT, TotalMail, DriverPay, PeopleNet) is preferred.
· Experience with Rail enterprise solutions (e.g., Kaleris / Bourque / Intellitrans) is beneficial.
· Experience with Marine solutions (e.g.,Veson, Mainstay, TowWorks) is beneficial.
· Knowledge of transportation and logistics business functions and the oil and gas industry is preferred.
· Reporting, Data Analytics, and Data Warehouse experience is preferred. Specifically, experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI)
· ServiceNow, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Data Warehouse, SQL, SSIS reports is beneficial.
