Overview
As part of the global IT team, the IT Specialist provides frontline support and service for systems, applications, and endpoints critical to plant operations. This role involves active participation in cross-functional projects and requires managing and maintaining global network components like switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and network security protocols. Prior experience in manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver support for end-user devices, applications, and network issues, escalating complex problems to senior IT members or vendors as needed.
- Oversee the global network infrastructure, focusing on a standardized approach to design, security, redundancy, and maximizing uptime.
- Assist with user lifecycle management, handling account setup and access management for employees.
- Manage endpoint lifecycle processes from acquisition to deployment, ongoing support, and eventual disposal.
- Participate in Change Management, Incident Management, and Disaster Recovery tasks as required.
- Collaborate to set and achieve SLA targets for support inquiries.
- Seek opportunities to enhance and streamline global network services.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and assess their relevance for potential implementation.
- Contribute expertise and industry insights to the team to drive effective changes.
- Operate independently as needed, making sound decisions and documenting work thoroughly.
- Partner with European staff on joint projects to ensure coordinated efforts.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience; 3-4 years in IT support roles, ideally with international or multi-country technology deployment exposure.
- Proficiency in managing corporate network components, including edge switching, VLANs, routing protocols, wireless access points, firewalls, internet connections, and redundancy/failover solutions.
- Strong skills in network troubleshooting and support, including IP services, Ethernet/fiber connections, wireless systems, VPNs, firewalls, and IP telephony.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general application support.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Cloud solutions such as Entra, Office 365, and Intune.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and procedures.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Preference for candidates with experience supporting ERP systems like JD Edwards E1 or SAP.
