Preferred Qualifications Position Summary The University of Georgia Poultry Safety Research team is seeking a motivated and hardworking Information Technology professional to support and develop novel approaches to design, develop and implement instrumentation to collect, analyze, and present poultry production metrics both at pre-harvest and post-harvest stages, including poultry production (growth, behavior) microbiological, and animal welfare data as well as similar data obtained from post-harvest stages. This position will work under the direction of Dr. Harshavardhan Thippareddi. The UGA Poultry Safety Research team is a highly collaborative team that works with academic, industry, and government partners nationally and internationally. The research is also highly interdisciplinary and often includes working with engineers, pre-harvest (production) management experts, poultry nutritionists, microbiologists working in the pre- and post-harvest poultry facets, and other allied disciplinary experts.   • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience in conducting applied animal research
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills
  • Experience in building PowerBI, tableau dashboards, time series data analysis, machine learning
  • Interest and experience in wearable animal technologies for collection of physiological data
  • Background in engineering or computer science, instrumentation design, testing and validation, implementation, data collection and analysis in animal (poultry) based applications.
  • Experience in the use of the programming languages Python, Java, C++, C#, SQL, MATLAB, R and data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with statistical analyses using linear, mixed, and non-linear models, as well as non-parametric data to analyze large data sets. Physical Demands

      • Fabricate research instrumentation for collection of data such as temperature, humidity, air velocity of the animals (birds) as well as the animal environment.
      • Conduct animal related research in collaboration with the researcher(s), collect research data on animal production and processing related research. Percentage of time 50 Duties/Responsibilities
        • Organize the data and conduct data analysis using tolls and software available using programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, C#, SQL, MATLAB, R
        • Develop data visualization by building power BI and tableau dashboards, Google charts, etc.
        • Prepare research reports using developed graphics and assist in preparation of manuscripts for publication
