The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting IT issues, and maintaining hardware and software systems used in a healthcare setting. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of healthcare IT systems, and an understanding of data security regulations such as HIPAA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network issues in a healthcare environment.
- Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and medical IT systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues for healthcare professionals and staff.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare IT security standards, including HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) systems and other healthcare applications.
- Assist in system upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Train staff on IT best practices, security protocols, and new software applications.
- Collaborate with IT and healthcare teams to improve technology processes and support patient care initiatives.
- Document IT issues, resolutions, and system updates for record-keeping and future reference.
- Stay updated on emerging healthcare IT trends and security threats.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of IT support experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, network troubleshooting, and system administration.
- Familiarity with healthcare software applications, including EHR/EMR systems.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare IT security best practices.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to support healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) are a plus.
