Job Description :

Regeneron is currently looking for an Innovation Protection Specialist to join our Process Sciences Drug Product Engineering department. The Innovation Protection Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of medical device developments by facilitating discussions and workflows including but not limited to agreements, innovation protection, due diligence and information sharing.

As an Innovation Protection Specialist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Develops, implements and manages records of innovation protection strategies for combination product medical device programs, including but not limited to due diligence, conflict of interest protection, and device naming and trademarking.
  • Partners closely with internal intellectual property team to establish and maintain a strong portfolio of devices including but not limited to combination products.
  • Partners closely with internal legal, privacy and governance, IT Security, sourcing and intellectual property teams to negotiate and implement appropriate legal agreements to support innovative medical device research and development goals.
  • Engages with and educates groups of colleagues on internal onboarding processes and contract requirements.
  • Continuously identifies solutions and pushes to continuously improve the innovation protection process from the device development requestor end.
  • Tracks the status of internal intellectual property matters with respect to internal programs and provides regular portfolio metrics to leadership.

  • Have a strong understanding of intellectual property and medical devices, specifically combination products.
  • Can navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment and prioritize.
  • Have experience participating in due diligence teams and assessing value of in-licensing/technology IP.
  • Possess strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Are able to work independently, while meeting time sensitive deadlines and prioritizing multiple matters.
  • Have experience in supplier relations and/or legal documentation.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with cross-functional teams across research and development, legal, sourcing and business development as well as third party collaborators.

To be considered for the Innovation Protection Specialist you must be willing and able to work Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm. You must have a BS/BA in Paralegal Studies (Intellectual Property), New Product Development, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field. For various levels you must have the following:

  • Innovation Specialist: 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Sr. Innovation Specialist: 5+ years of relevant experience

Prior experience in the medical device industry and/or legal industry is preferred. Intellectual property experience preferred. Level is determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.

Salary Range (annually)

$65,100.00 - $124,300.00
