Job Title: Inspector I Job Type: Temp To Hire Summary The Housing Choice Inspector I schedules and conducts Annual, Initial, Special and property Re-inspections for approval and re-certification to ensure compliance with the company Enhanced Inspections Standards with the goal of providing quality housing opportunities in healthy communities for Housing Choice Participants and Applicants. The inspector will also conduct inspections of Project Based Rental Assisted communities as assigned. The inspector must be able to work within a team environment for the purpose of accomplishing departmental goals and possess excellent customer service skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides courteous and professional customer service to all clients.
- Conducts Single and Multi-Family Initial, Annual, Special and Re-Inspections.
- Schedules assigned Initial, Annual, Special and Re-Inspections with Participants and Landlords.
- Generates daily assignments and audit reports.
- Effectively communicates inspection results with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders
- Uploads completed inspection data by 10:00 A.M. the following morning
- Conducts inspections on Project Based Rental Assisted communities as assigned.
- Sets Annual Inspection Appointments with Landlords at least 48 hours prior to conducting inspection.
- Notifies Landlords of inspection time and schedules Initial Inspections with landlords
- Maintains company vehicle appearance and maintenance.
- May on occasion lead the planning, coordination and development of projects or training.
- Provides recommendations to Manager of Housing Choice Inspections in situations that require special attention.
- Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year experience in residential inspections
- HQS Certification
- NACHI Certification or other home inspection certification
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- An excellent working knowledge of the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) procedures and policies.
- An excellent working knowledge of Enhanced Inspection Standards
- Ability to generate and interpret work related inspection reports and articulately present findings to management.
- A working knowledge of all Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills are required to assure that caseload is successfully managed.
- Strong customer service skills
- Must exhibit advanced knowledge of company initiatives, including Move To Work Program within 120 days of hire date.
- Must be a self-starter that can perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Will require successful completion of in-house certification program within 60 days of hire.
- Working Conditions
- Works in an office environment. May require frequent bending, stooping, reaching and prolonged sitting. May require regular lifting usually not exceeding 20 lbs.
