Hours: Full-time – 35 HoursWork Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 and 40 Worth Street – 8th Floor, New York, NY 10013Only candidates who are permanent in the Assistant Civil Engineer title or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive (Exam #1101) or those who filed for the Open-Competitive Exam #5015 may apply. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview.The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking Inspectors to join our Construction Management Unit in various boroughs. Successful candidates will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and/or Resident Engineer and conduct technical inspections of construction, repair, and maintenance projects. These projects will involve roadways, sewers, pavements, and sidewalks. Specific responsibilities include assessing the grading, paving, and repaving of streets, connections to house sewers, retaining walls, and the maintenance of water, sewer, and utility manholes.Please see the below update to Minimum Qualification Requirements:1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering technology and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Preferred Skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main)
  • Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license (required)
  • Personal vehicle (preferred)
