We contract, manage, engineer, and execute projects using our global vessel fleet, including Jones Act-compliant vessels, advanced technologies, and highly skilled personnel.Position SummaryThe Offshore Installation Technician is responsible for preparing, assembling, and safely executing rigging operations for lifting, moving, and securing equipment and materials during offshore projects. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, technical expertise, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-stakes offshore environment.Duties & Responsibilities•Perform rigging and lifting activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.•Inspect rigging equipment, such as slings, chains, shackles, and hoists, to ensure safe and proper operation.•Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.•Perform routine inspections and maintenance of rigging equipment to ensure reliability and compliance with standards; Lube and maintain the drum and cables, adjusting if needed.•Oversee the rigging to lift and move equipment/materials in worksite; Calculate load capacities and select appropriate rigging gear for each task.•Set up and brace hoisting equipment using hand tools or power wrenches.•Use machinery to move construction materials, earth, petroleum products, or other heavy materials.•The ability to coordinate with Deck Foreman and Vessel Superintendents as well as Clients for all back-deck operations.•Coordinate, train, and assist with foreign nationals, including mentoring personnel assigned in all aspects of the back-deck operations; direct the foreign workers and the movement of equipment to accomplish the task.•Follow all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to minimize risks and hazards; Participate in daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments; Report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors immediately.•Assist in the assembly and disassembly of offshore structures or equipment as needed.•Support additional operational tasks, such as loading/unloading vessels or platform maintenance.•Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.QualificationsREQUIRED•0 - 3 years' experience in rigging for ships and shipyards, manufacturing plants and construction projects is required.DESIRED•High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).•Valid Passport, MMC, and TWIC.•Proper rigging and forklift certifications.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS•Knowledge of appropriate steps to analytical problem solving. •Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. •Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.•Treats others fairly and with respect.•Knowledge of department's policies, rules, regulations, business goals, vision, organizational structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, and values, etc.•Ability to establish and maintain project priorities.•Seeks out new learning experiences.•Identifies what needs to be done and acts before being asked or required.Additional InformationWORKING CONDITIONSThis position is considered OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows.•Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water. •Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment. •Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels, and the lights are intense/glare. •Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks. •Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.•Work surface is stable, height is elevated.PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
