Instructional AideMultiple Positions AvailableKindergarten CenterJOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the teacher, the Instructional Aide will assist in the planning and implementation of programs in reading intervention and math intervention that meets the needs and abilities of the identified students.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist students with newly taught skills by various means to meet the needs of the students.Maintain documentation of student behavior and monitor student progress when needed.Assist student to remain on task and focused at all times.Provide small group intervention and instruction.Monitor students during lunch and recess.Address student's emotional and physical outbursts in various ways such as discussing the situation to prevent escalation. Assist the individual student with daily needs such as organization skills, social skills, life skills, independent skills, and various academic assignments.Implement lesson plans on a daily basis under the direction of the classroom teacher/intervention teacher and gather resources as reinforcement to the written plans.Assess progress of assigned student and provide that information to the Reading/Math Teacher for documentation purposes.Assist Reading/Math Teacher with various tasks such as record keeping, in class activities, preparing materials, and any other areas assistance is required.Attend staff meetings, in-service programs, and various other meetings, as requested. Assist student's preparation with state testing and PSSA's.Perform other duties as assigned by the Reading/Math Teacher and/or Principal.PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have Associate's degree or higher or pass a local assessment test or hold at least forty-five (45) college credits or evidence of successful completion of required state test
- Completion of the following three clearances: PA State Police Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting Background Check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
- Considerable bending and twisting of the body required
- Some stooping and squatting required
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time of the workday
