You belong here!We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our Sandburg Team! This professional will be responsible for providing individual and/or small group instruction and implementing strategies to general education students, with support of licensed staff within the school environment (e.g. Classroom, Cafeteria, Playground, Community, etc.). The ideal candidate is strong in making independent decisions within appropriate parameters; monitoring and supporting students during school activities (lunch & recess); preparing and modifying instructional materials; maintaining student confidentiality and adapting to changes in responsibilities and schedules. Essential Duties
  • Assist students in the completion of assignments as appropriate. Oversee students as they work independently or in groups, in the classroom, resource area/lab or other designated areas.
  • Monitor students during tests; administer make-up exams as directed.
  • Process and organize books, instructional resources and other equipment for staff and student use.
  • Assist teachers in grading assignments and tests as requested. Assist teachers in the preparation of instructional materials.
  • Order and maintain instructional and clerical material and supplies as instructed.
  • Assist with processing of student registration and academic reports according to building procedures.
  • Type correspondence, memorandums, reports, purchase orders and other material as requested.
  • Assist in maintenance of departmental files and records. Assist with, collect and receipt student fee/fines as directed.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies; process warehouse orders promptly and as needed. Assist in inventory of instructional material and equipment. Use copier as needed.
  • Provide direction to student assistants.

  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills; Advanced computer hardware and software skills; Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and Google
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with general office equipment, including telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.;
  • Knowledge of operating, installing, supporting and maintaining PCs and associated application software preferred at hire.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Bilingual oral and written communication skills preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

Education and Related Work Experience:
  • High School Diploma
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, math or school-readiness skills or an Associates degree
  • Working with and/or supervising youth preferred
Certifications/Training:
  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • District provided human resoursce training
  • Additional training may be required based on school need.
5 hours per day at Sandburg Elementary School.
