- Responsible for conducting small tutoring groups
- Design and implement enriching academic programs to build each student's skills
- Facilitate structured extracurricular activities that supports youth Social Emotional Development
- Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings
- Able to use conflict resolution techniques with a variety of individuals in an array of circumstances
- Observe child behavior and make recommendations to parents and/or Program Coordinator
- Provide guidance on academic progress of program participants to both parents and the Program Coordinator
- Organize and draft educational materials, including evaluation tests
- Complete small projects in a timely and efficient manner as directed by Program Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates or Bachelors degree preferred minimum of two years program experience
- Works very easily with young people in grades 6-8 and interacts well with others
- Experience with or knowledge of best practices in youth development preferred
- Proficiency in modern business communications, including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile and copier equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of NYC and its adjacent counties
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to speak clearly
- Ability to reach by extending hand(s) and/or arm(s) in any direction
- Ability to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm, for example, using a keyboard or phone
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time in all types of weather, including inclement weather
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs
