As Instructor, you will maintain a classroom conducive to learning. This includes facilitating curriculum with successful participant engagement and learning, and modeling positive and professional behavior.
Workforce1 is a service provided by the NYC Department of Small Business Services that prepares and connects qualified candidates to job opportunities in New York City. We make strong matches for both candidates and employers by using a unique combination of recruitment expertise, industry knowledge, and skill-building workshops to strengthen candidates employment prospects. Services are provided to individuals aged 18 and over in all five boroughs of New York City.
Responsibilities:
Successful Elements:
- Facilitate an introduction to services orientation, as well as a variety of job readiness workshops for resume creation and interview prep, while adhering to standardized provided curriculum and scripts for service delivery
- Facilitate one-on-one and group workshops in both an in-person and virtual environment, utilizing platforms such as Teams, Zoom, and LanSchool
- Utilize a variety of sourcing tools to promote awareness of services and drive traffic to the Center and workshops offered such as Indeed, Constant Contact, Eventbrite, etc.
- When workshops are not in session, provide active support for other Center teams including career advisement, data entry, and front desk reception
- Maintain timely completion of required data tracking tools for all activities and outcomes, and be able to present and speak on progress to goal
- Connect and work closely with the Community Partner Manager to strategically plan how to increase traffic to workshops
- Participate in required program and community meetings/events, which may require some local travel
- Connect and work closely with the Recruitment Services Manager to strategically plan how to use career development services to produce higher outcomes from the recruitment team referrals to employment opportunities
- Create and maintain an environment that promotes opportunities for quality interaction and learning
- Establish clear expectations and encourage client accountability
- Utilize various methods of instruction to encourage attention and interest
- Maintain awareness of differences in individual learning styles and strengths, and utilize various materials to respond to them
- Demonstrate positive interactions modeling respect and professionalism with clients, staff, and community representatives
- Use language reflective of commitment to diversity; demonstrate cultural competence
- Demonstrate allegiance to policies, procedures, and expectations of EDSI
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Experience in facilitation, instruction, training, education, and/or career development
- Experience presenting to large groups and facilitating curriculum
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
- Familiarity with technology navigation and virtual instruction
- Working knowledge of event and client management systems, including Eventbrite, Indeed, Constant Contact, Zoom, etc.
- Experience in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude
Required Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Education, Training, Human Resources, Liberal Arts, or related area
Preferred Experience:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience in the workforce development field
