Department Information Lanes ESL Department is seeking candidates for the part-time pool for the 2023-24 academic year to provide quality instruction and service to Lanes international and resident ESL student population. Instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning. This is an application pool posting for 2024-2025. Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching Studies, or English language acquisition. OR Masters degree in Education, Linguistics, or Adult Education and Training from an accredited college or university AND Graduate coursework (8 credits) or a rigorous (180 hours) university-affiliated, Certificate/Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language. Required Experience: Two (2) years of experience teaching English to non-native speakers in a classroom environment at the postsecondary level is required (or part-time assignments that together equal two (2) years). Conditions of Employment: Successful applicants are required to complete a criminal background check. Preferred Qualifications: Experience meeting the needs of students with goals ranging from basic life-skill building to academic preparation. Experience with VESL/Contextualized/IET English language instruction. Experience in Literacy instruction for English Language Learners. Experience in online, remote, and/or hyflex instruction for English language learners at all levels of language proficiency. Position Purpose: To provide high quality instruction in listening, speaking, reading, writing, college and career readiness, digital literacy, and study skills at a variety of levels to non-native English speakers (resident and international students) from diverse backgrounds and levels ranging from beginning to advanced English language learners. Essential Functions: Provide high-quality classroom instruction. Maintain and post teaching schedule, regular meetings and office hours. Other duties as assigned.
