Thompson is headquartered in Sumter, South Carolina with offices spanning the United States, primarily southeast and central United States.Position DescriptionThis position is a multi-craft position with emphasis on instrumentation/Electrical work and is primarily responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and demolishing (as needed) control valves, field instrumentation, Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) related equipment, wires, relays, electrical wire, conduit, switches, circuit breakers, motor control centers, motors, relays and other electrical apparatus in accordance with relevant codes. The successful candidate will be required to work, independently or in partnership with other staff members, on general mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and utility operation tasks.Job ResponsibilitiesMust have a strong understanding of the national electric code (NEC).Must have strong understanding of Electrical safety, including Arc Flash PPE and Hazardous Locations requirements.Must be able to read/understand Piping and Instrumentation Drawings in order to identify instruments and control loops.Must be able to create single line electrical and loop drawings.Must be able to read control wiring loop sheets, PLC ladder logic and single line diagrams. Also must be capable of redlining these drawings for changes.Must be able to calculate surfaces, volumes, weights, and measures.Must be able to read and understand safety rules, company policies and procedure manuals.Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.Must be able to read and interpret a variety of diagrams, blueprints, and operational manuals of shop tools and equipment.Must be able to solve practical problems using rational logic and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Must be able to perform basic math using application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions with algebra and geometric constructions.Must be able to document activities such as work completed or inspection observations on forms or work orders using legible handwriting and understandable verbiage.Must be able to utilize the computer to process work orders, complete required training, order supplies, etc. using a computerized maintenance management system.Calibrate instruments.Job QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age.Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor and welder.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environment.7+ years in construction or maintenance in an industrial setting.5+ years experience as an I & E Technician.Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.#J-18808-Ljbffr
