Position Description:We are looking for an Instrumentation Engineer to join our
Water Team to improve infrastructure in our Atlanta office. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering and eight to fifteen years of experience in instrumentation and controls. A Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire date is required. The ability to mentor junior to intermediate staff and work with remotely located project team members is a requirement. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid-remote work schedule is available after 90 days of employment.
Typical responsibilities include: Will work with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and designers providing technical services to public and private-sector clients. Primary duties will include control systems engineering, process control strategy planning, automation designs, construction support services, and planning studies with detailed analyses. These designs will be primarily related to water and wastewater treatment plants and related facilities. Experience with equipment selections, equipment and communication network layouts, and process control design coordination with other engineering disciplines is required. Candidates should be at ease with core aspects of PLC, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, and upgrades Developing preliminary scope definitions, budgets, and staffing plans Field review and evaluation of existing equipment, control systems (hardware and software) and control panels Preparing studies, conceptual reports, and technical memorandums Conducting I&C engineering and analyses related to various water, wastewater, and industrial waste treatment facilities Developing construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules). Documents for construction include: *Technical specifications *Detailed control strategies/narratives *Instrument data sheets *Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) *Detailed network communication architecture diagrams, *Control panel details, *CCTV and Access Control System drawings, *Point-to-Point Wiring Diagrams, and *Instrument installation details Construction support activities include: *Review of Contractor and Supplier submittals *Participate in construction site inspections *Support of equipment and control system commissioning, start-up, and performance testing *Assist with system troubleshooting Marketing support activities include: *Assisting marketing team with project pursuit strategies *Presentation material development *Presentation participation *Serving as I&C discipline subject matter expert Travel 3-4 days per month Maintain a safe working environmentEducation:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is required
Skills/Experience:
- 8 to 15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls is required
- Professional Engineering license (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire date is required
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to convey project I&C needs to the project managers and clients, and to formulate those needs into comprehensive plans and specifications is required
