The Opportunity
Based out of our Charleston, SC or Jacksonville, FL offices, this full-time Insurance Placement Specialist will provide advanced marketing, and technical leadership to meet the insurance needs of highly complex new/renewal clients across the Southeast region of MDP's commercial book. This individual will report to the Vice President of Carrier Relations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages assigned accounts; analyzes accounts for adequacy and appropriate coverage. Prepares final proposal presentation, analysis and summaries as needed. Manage the new business placement process for all commercial accounts domiciled in the Southeast region (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee and Virginia). Insurance Placement Specialist (ISP) will coordinate with internal Producer/Account Management teams to perform market identification, selection, and reservation. Additionally, the IPS will assist in the preparation of final proposal presentations, analysis and summaries as needed.
- Maintains tracking of new business pipeline for accounts the IPS is involved in. Provides VP of Carrier Relations real-time feedback on potential placements to optimize positive carrier outcomes.
- Manage the renewal marketing process for all challenging or complex renewals in the Southeast region. Initial reviews will occur 120 days out and the IPS will work with the internal team to set a course of action via scheduling the team renewal meetings monthly.
- Markets the account and reviews marketing placements.
- Initiates and follows up on renewal applications.
- Identifies cross/up selling opportunities. Expands and rounds out existing accounts by identifying potential gaps in coverage, recommending and implementing proper coverage.
- Responsible for making sure that all the terms and conditions of the insurance policies are properly prepared.
- As requested, accompanies the Producer on new business and renewal client meetings.
- Work with VP of Carrier Relations on new Southeast market identification, application, and post appointment on-boarding support.
- Resource for the sales and service team to utilize for knowledge and expertise with regards to carriers, their appetites, and areas of growth opportunities.
- Responsible for driving their own professional development.
- Keeps VP of Carrier Relations informed of real-time transactional feedback.
- Partners with VP of Carrier Relations to keep team informed of the carriers' underwriting appetites and pricing changes. Attends carrier meetings as requested.
- Performs other duties, special assignments and projects as requested by the Managing CL Partner and the VP of Carrier Relations.
- Maintain an active insurance license and all CE requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or 7-10 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Extensive knowledge of South Carolina and Florida P&C markets, along with standard, wholesale, and demotech carriers.
- State Property and Casualty Insurance License required.
- Computer skills required: Epic Online Database software; Microsoft Office Suite

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasionally required to stand/walk; frequently required to sit; continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity and to talk or hear. Normal office environment.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At MDP, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is presented within this posting.
