Job DescriptionIntake SpecialistIntake specialist serves as the first point of contact for all asylum seekers at a NYC Health + Hospital Emergency Response and Relief Center (HERRC) and or NYC Housing recovery Development (HPD) facilities. The Intake Specialist assist clients with the initial intake processing, admission, provide ongoing support to the exit plan team, and other administrative service needs.Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Intake Specialist: Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Intake Specialist Responsibilities Include: Assist clients throughout the intake procedure Issue a 60-day notice to clients upon their admission Accompany clients to exit planner area Support clients' meetings with exit planners Ensure client data is maintained in Host database protocols and in compliance with contract agreement terms. Perform clerical work such as printing and other duties as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Intake Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Bachelor's degree, preferred in social work or other human services field + two years of relevant experience working with people who enter the U.S. seeking asylum. Must possess strong organizational skills. Comprehensive understanding of culturally sensitive services. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to learn quickly and problem-solve under pressure and within prescribed timelines. Excellent oral, listening and written communications skills Ability to multi-task Identify potential issues and challenges. Empathy and understanding of the services. Identify problems or obstacles. Develop effective solutions. Ability to work under pressure. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Professionalism and confidentiality knowledge and skills Second language fluency is desired (Spanish). Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Client Intake Coordinator, Enrollment Specialist, or Admissions Coordinator.
