This position will coordinate the intake component of the Elam Mental Health Center. Includes conducting telephone and personal intake interviews, providing a thorough bio-psycho-social assessment, triaging clients based on information received, providing crisis intervention as required, and coordinating patient care with referring agencies.
Daily Operations- Complete a thorough biopsychosocial assessment (ASI & ASAM PPC-2R) on each client during intake. Create and maintain client file with Intake Screening, Consent, Assessment, Release of Information and other documentations. Supervise Interns in the completion of same.
- Provide group or individual counseling on an as needed basis; Provide crisis intervention counseling, and referrals when needed.
- Participate in funding agency training activities as required; Maintain a functional knowledge of internal and funding agencies standards of service delivery and documentation; Assist in the collection and reporting of statistical data to funding and other agencies as required.
- Maintain, and practice skills regarding sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of clients and others contacted in carrying out job responsibilities.
- Participate in funding agency training activities as required; Maintain a functional knowledge of internal and funding agencies standards of service delivery and documentation; Assist in the collection and reporting of statistical data to funding and other agencies as required.
- Conduct follow up phone calls, letters, etc. to the referral sources, courts, and officials as needed; Keep and enter data as to when and where clients are admitted or transferred to a level of care. Maintain clinical records and required paperwork in compliance with agency standards; Adhere to the guidelines as stated in the Meharry Medical College Policy and Procedures Manual.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor or Senior Leadership.
Required Skills- A comprehensive knowledge of addictions, withdrawal, and other behavioral health issues.
- Ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, agencies, etc.
- Possess strong clinical, assessment, and organizational skills Adhere to the guidelines as stated in the Meharry Medical College Policy and Procedures manual.
- Be courteous, tactful, and discrete in relating to the public, other staff, and clients.
- Respect and protect client's rights (including confidentiality) and ensure that client's respect the rights of others by appropriately intervening and/or reporting when program rule violations occur
- Acquire, maintain, and practice skills regarding sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of clients and other contacted in caring out job responsibilities.
Required Education and Experience- Bachelors' degree in behavioral sciences field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three (3) years' experience is required.
- Master degree preferred.
