About the Job

General Statement of Responsibilities (broad definition):

Provide screening and assessment service to the eligible clientele of Boynton Health. Serve as consultant and liaison to the other members of the Health Service staff and the faculty and staff of the University community.

The Intake Specialist must abide by the by-laws of the Boynton Health and policies or regulations as established by the Medical Staff, the Regents of the University of Minnesota and the laws of the State of Minnesota.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

* Provide Intake screening and assessment services to a diverse group of University of Minnesota students, which may include:

* triaging students in-person, online, or via phone to screen presenting concerns and/or needs

* Make recommendations regarding access to services and resources that may address the student's presenting concerns and/or needs

* Crisis prevention and intervention.

* Consultation and support for students needing higher/different levels of care.

* Timely communication/reporting back to co-workers (both prescribers and therapists) regarding disposition of cases, clinical information, and any additional clinical recommendations.

* Serve as an integral part of our Intake Team. The Intake Team coordinates care and connection to resources at the Mental Health Clinic, and is designed to assist students in identifying the next best steps for treatment and getting connected to various services and resources both on and off campus.

* Maintain appropriate documentation in the electronic health record for all clinical work.

* Provide consultation to Boynton Health medical staff and University staff and faculty regarding student mental health issues.

* Develop and present (as requested) educational and outreach programs relating to student and community mental health for Boynton Health and the University community.

* Participate in planning, implementation, updating and evaluation of programs and policies of the Mental Health Clinic.

* Participate in Boynton Health and University-wide committees as assigned.

* Attend continuing education programs to maintain licensure, expand clinical skills and contribute to the field of mental health.

* Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Pursuing a Master's degree in Family Social Sciences, Clinical Social Work or Counseling

* Prior experience working in a mental health setting or health care setting

* Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications include:

* Proven ability to work effectively with students from underserved populations and backgrounds.

* Proven ability to provide individual and group therapy to our growing community of international students. We are especially interested in finding a clinician who has demonstrated experience reaching out to students from the Pacific Rim, South Asia, and the Middle East. Language skills, for instance Mandarin or Arabic, would be a great asset.

* At least two years of experience in a mental health practice.

* Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

* Strong clinical experience in mental health triage and crisis counseling.

* Experience in a college health setting.

* Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health records.

* Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $46,800.00 to $77,209.60; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
