Skywood Recovery Center is a residential treatment facility offering integrated treatment for addiction and mental health conditions. Skywood Recovery provides individual and group therapy, experiential therapy, equine and art therapy, and yoga. Located in Augusta, MI, a convenient drive from Kalamazoo and Lansing, MI, the campus offers a restorative environment with opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Position Summary

This position will provide multi-departmental support and will have cross-functional responsibilities to include the utilization management, clinical, and nursing departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Reviews and understands insurance information provided by the Admissions Center, determines which benefits are available to client, and clarifies discrepancies or confusion.

* Completes insurance prior authorizations within the required timeframe.

* Explains the evaluation and admission process to the potential patient/referral source and informs patient of necessary items to bring for treatment.

* Documents all intake information into the TIER program including demographics and all appropriate assessments.

* Ensures intake paperwork is complete and accurate. Creates intake files. Files intake-related documents.

* Acts as role model by following program and treatment norms, demonstrating honesty and a willingness to listen to patients' issues and taking responsibility for own actions.

* Works collaboratively with the Admission Center staff, Utilization Review staff, Nursing Staff and Residential Assistants.

* Communicates and collaborates with nursing department to facilitate an efficient transition of customer into the treatment milieu.

* Maintains professional relations and assures information is communicated effectively with staff as well as to patients, families, and referral sources.

* Complete 1st part of nursing admission and document in TIER. This includes all consents, Vitals, nutrition screening, BAC, POCC.

* Put together and complete nursing chart when admitting nurse has finished her assessment.

* Admissions duties. MS4 duties, Intake added emails and effectively communicate with the team any pertinent changes in our admission schedule.

* Luggage search, Valuables, and obtain signatures from patient on admission paperwork.

* COWS/CIWA auditing for DON

* Assist with any situation that may occur that can be supportive to RA's or Nursing.

* Assist MA with vivitrol ordering, obtaining medical records, and phone calls.

* Call in pharmacy orders for discharged patients if needed to support nursing.

* Speaking with family members when needed to provide updates.

* Prepare next day's admission's chart for nursing

* Keep and maintain up to date intake packets, taking note to any changes within the documents that may be presented and communicating with medical records.

* Performs all other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Ability to inspire client confidence in the FRN Staff and the FRN Model of Treatment.

* Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients and their family members through the FRN Model of Treatment.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

* Must have high level of interpersonal skills. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, professionalism, tact and diplomacy.

* Exercise good judgment, apply common sense and successfully handle ambiguity.

* Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and the ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the organization.

* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

* Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency in MS Access (or other database program) is preferred.

* Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.

* Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.

* Knowledge of addiction, addictive process and recovery.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred; Mental Health Service Provider preferred. HS Diploma Required

* Minimum 1 year experience working in a psychiatric/substance abuse facility required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

* Ability to be physically mobile; however, long periods of sitting will be required.

* Ability to lift, pull or push up to 30 lbs.

* Ability to be physically mobile, climb stairs, traverse the campus on uneven, hilly terrain.

* Constant use of computer requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.

* Ability to read, write and analyze detailed and complex information.

* A current, valid driver's license and a clean driving record is required for use of company vehicles.

* May require weekend availability.
