Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Legislative Support:
- Attends legislative hearings and meetings with legislators, legislative staff, and other liaisons.
- Coordinates agency interaction and testimony before legislative committees.
- Manages the agency's legislative bill tracking system, supporting subject matter experts with analysis and fiscal note estimates.
- Prepares summaries of meetings and hearings for management and other stakeholders.
- Reviews and analyzes proposed legislation, laws, and policies for updates, communicating relevant information to agency leadership.
Project Management and Communication:
- Coordinates responses to legislative inquiries, reviews legislative correspondence, and disseminates information as needed.
- Develops and implements intergovernmental and public information projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Supports the planning and development of strategic initiatives and project operations.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including legislative support and executive agencies.
- And duties as assigned.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Training Guidelines:Enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a field relevant to the assignment is generally preferred such as Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of state legislative processes and state government administration;
- Skill in compiling, evaluating, and presenting legislative information; in problem solving and negotiating; in policy analysis and research; and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
- Ability to analyze issues to work under pressure and meet close deadlines, and to communicate effectively.
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, tact and diplomacy in a variety of public contact situations and have flexibility in dealing with changing priorities and situations; ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing conditions, and added responsibility.
Required Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations to elected officials and staff.
- Proficient in problem-solving, legislative research, and policy analysis.
- Capable of maintaining relationships with legislative staff, public agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Skilled in data collection, evaluation, and decision-making within legislative guidelines.
- Proficient in the use of computers and relevant software applications.
Abilities:

- Demonstrated initiative, judgment, and diplomacy in public settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Texas state government or legislative processes.
- Prior experience in public policy, government relations, or legislative affairs.
- Familiarity with tracking legislative bills and providing fiscal analysis.
