THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ENLISTMENT IN THE U.S. ARMY OR ARMY RESERVE In the United States Army, the interior electrician is primarily responsible for the installation and maintenance for all of the Armys interior electrical systems.Job DutiesInstall transformers, junction boxes, circuit breakers, service panels, switches, electrical boxes and lightning rodsRead blueprints, wire plans and repair orders to determine layouts/repairTest equipment for the operational conduction of circuitsInspect power distribution systems, shorts in wires and faulty equipmentRepair and replace faulty wiring and lighting fixtures TrainingJob training for interior electrician requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field with on-the-job instructions, including on-the-job instruction for installation and repair.Some of the skills youll learn are:Fundamentals of electricityElectrical circuit troubleshootingSafety proceduresTechniques for wiring switches, outlets and junction boxesPARTNERSHIP FOR YOUTH SUCCESS (PaYS) ProgramThose interested in this job may be eligible for civilian employment, after the Army, by enrolling in the Army PaYS program.
