Description Intern-Mechanical, Energy, or Electrical Engineering - New York City, NYPVE, LLC is currently recruiting for Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering Interns and Co-Op students for Fall 2024.Candidates must live in New York City Metropolitan area, as this is a largely in-office internship.Co-Op/Interns at PVE, LLC have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and project managers on current projects. Special training is given to co-op/interns on design, technical drawings, software, site visits, inspection and client communications. Our co-op/intern student are not watching the work, they are doing the work. Feedback is provided on performance and skill and training goals are established before the internship or co-op program starts. Position Purpose:Assisting with analyzing the energy performance and carbon footprint of existing buildings. Surveying and inspecting existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, as well as building envelope components related to the overall aspect of building construction. Assist with survey inventory and data entry for energy saving calculations. Digital drafting of certain energy-related construction projects and standard construction details.Principal Responsibilities: Adhere to all Structures Group Accountabilities listed within the Appendix A. Assist with walkthroughs and surveys of existing buildings, focusing on all components that impact energy consumption, including measurements, photos, and equipment inventory Assist with data and survey inventory entry of various energy-impacting components in buildings Become familiar with New York City's various laws, building codes, and legislation that require existing buildings to reduce energy towards a zero-carbon all-electric future Assist with preparing summary documentation (photo reports, site markups, verbal communication) Drafting of various standardized details, notes, and digital drawing templates used for various building construction upgrades. Required Skills:
- High School degree and currently pursuing an Associates, Bachelor, or Master's Degree in a related field and/or applicable work experience.
- Lives/goes to school in New York City Metropolitan area
- 0-3 years of mechanical or electrical engineering of buildings and/or design in support of various existing building projects and initiatives.
- Understanding of processes, compliance, and other design consulting and construction professionals.
- The position is based in Manhattan, NY and will involve moderate travel throughout the five boroughs. Job requires the ability to navigate urban, rural and industrial site. Must have a valid driver's and safe driving record.
- Must be physically fit enough to walk fire escapes, stairwells, multiple flights of stairs, and various basement areas. Must also be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer terminal, operating a computer keyboard and general office equipment.
- Office is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment.
- Field Inspection performed in outdoor temperature extremes for brief periods of time, but mostly indoors.

Pay Range $16.00 Hourly to $20.00 Hourly
