ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Analyzes and evaluates operational practices and documentation to ensure that items are following established Control Policies and Procedures, federal and state regulations, Bank Secrecy Act, and all applicable requirements. Plans and performs audits for financial, operational, compliance, regulatory requirements, and special projects with attention to potentials for fraud, efficiency of procedures and best practice models. Performs assigned audits objectively and ethically with the intention of protecting the company's assets and reputation. Creates and maintains written documentation/workpapers which reflect audit objectives, audit scope, audit procedures, work performed, findings, the conclusions reached, and the resolution of all exceptions. Reports on the effectiveness of internal controls, audit findings and deficiencies identified to owners and management. Prepares audit findings to assist in the preparation of draft reports. Works to effectively communicate findings and concerns with management. Performs follow-up on responses to audit findings. Determines whether organization is performing the accounting and control activities in compliance with management instructions. Assesses and reports on compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements. Provides consultation to improve effectiveness of controls. Supports the external auditors by performing reliance testing for the external audit firm. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as part of a group and in an independent capacity. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or another related field preferred. 2+ years of professional-level auditing/accounting experience preferred. CIA, CPA, CISA Certifications A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must obtain valid Virginia Racing Commission License. Valid Driver's License. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS The Team Member will be required to sit for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may also be required to stand; walk; use hands to finger reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The Team Member may be asked to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. The Team Member may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
