Position DetailsPosition Summary Position Title Intramural Sports Referee/Scorekeeper 24-25 Posting NumberDivision Recreation & Wellness Department Student Development & Engagemt Location Erie, Pa Position Summary POSITION SUMMARY:Career Readiness Learning Objectives:Communication:Clearly and effectively exchange information, ideas, facts, and perspectives withco-workers during games, as well as the players competing in the games. Teamwork:Build and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and players to work effectively toward running a smooth game and event. Professionalism:Understanding the difference between a job and social life and having the ability to ref each game fairly and equally. Intramural Sports Official/Scorekeeper is responsible for the safety and maintaining fair play during Intramural Sports activities and events. Officials and Scorekeepers must understand the basic rules of play for applicable sports they are working and must be able to make fair and unbiased judgement through play.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Responsible for game control of all officiated Intramural Sports activities and events2. Calling games with honesty and integrity3. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times4. Attend required training sessions and demonstrate proficiency in understanding of rules and officiating5. Enforce established rules during Intramural Sports competition6. Evaluate and enforce sportsmanship of Intramural Sports teams/participants7. Ensure a safe environment for Intramural Sports participants by inspecting the playing area before the competition and creating a safe environment for play8. Apply and assist in first aid, as permitted by any certifications they may personally hold9. Run captain's meetings prior to each competition10. Ensure proper use of all university equipment by program participants11. Use mature judgment in emergency situations12. Work special events and promotional opportunities that may take place on evenings, weekends, campus breaks, and across campus13. Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications Education: Enrolled full-time student of Gannon University preferably with a minimum of a 2.5 GPAExperience: Experience must include use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and use of standard office equipment such as copy machine, printer, and telephone. Previous customer service, sports, or fitness experience preferred. Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED Certified preferred.Skills: Leadership skills including strong verbal and written communication skills, working in a team atmosphere, and professionalism. Individual must be able to work with a diverse population that would include students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
