TheOpportunity:

Avantor islooking for a dedicatedAssistant Manager– Inventoryto optimize our Biopharma Production organization.

The Assistant Manager will oversee the material handling, inventory control/kitting teams and supervise multi- shift Inventory Control Supervisors.

This position will report to the site Operations Manager and will collaborate with site leadership.

This is a full-time role base out of ourDevens, MAlocation.

What we're looking for:

  • Education:
  • Associate's Degree.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years related experience that includesmanaging Supervisorsrequired.
  • Experience in a GMP&FDA regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Business level communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Team building/ management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adapting to changing situations.
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes.
  • Ability to effectively interface with multiple management levels.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools to recommend and implement warehouse changes.
  • Ability to develop morale and motivation to team through positive leadership, fair performance appraisals and development within established Company policies.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Supervise a team of Inventory ControlSupervisorsacross 3 shifts, Inventory Control Associates and Material Handling Leads.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities, in collaboration with the Leads and Supervisors and internal stakeholders, to ensure effective warehouse management, and material flow into the various production cells.
  • Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse employees.
  • Make certain that the warehouse is maintaining quality.
  • Support daily management meetings for the material handling and inventory control teams.
  • Review and evaluate employee performance.
  • Conduct associate relation investigations and facilitate effective communications and collaborative problem-solving strategies.
  • Ensure that the warehouse department adheres to site safety procedures; Conducting periodic safety walks and trainings and near miss investigations.
  • Advise Supervisors and Leads on resource allocations.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Warehouse Managers and Supervisors to ensure smooth inventory transfers and optimized warehouse utilization.
  • Ensure Supervisors, Leads, and associates work collaboratively in the decision-making processes that are in alignment with the business goals and objectives, Good Warehousing Practices, Key Performance Indicator's (KPI), OSHA requirements and Human Resources (HR) guidelines.
  • Advise internal shareholders of major warehouse activities and non-routine changes to the schedule.
  • Establish, monitor, and manage operation goals and objectives.
  • Report on department performance/ metrics and track KPIs.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and SOPs. Write reports and correspondence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
