About Walden

Walden Local is New England and New York's leading brand of sustainable, locally-raised meat. Being a Certified B Corp on a mission to change the meat industry by displacing industrial, factory-farmed meat and seafood with sustainable and ethical alternatives, raised (and caught) locally and humanely by small, independent farmers and fishers. We connect families with farmers by distributing our delicious products directly to thousands of member households, through wholesale channels, and in select local retail locations. Our mission is to support healthier animals, people, and communities. 'Waldeneers' believe in simplicity, doing the right thing for our members, and that the little things matter.

About the Role

As a member of Walden's Inventory team, you'll receive, unload and transfer inventory from internal and external producers into our warehouse freezer bays on a quick timeline to ensure food safety and quality. You'll also be responsible for maintaining inventory counts, ensuring inventory quality and preparing inventory to be shipped to internal and external customers. Shipments can range from a handful of cases to 24+ pallets at a time.

This is a fast-paced position that requires a flexible attitude as client drop-offs and pick-ups can change at the last minute. You'll be regularly using pallet jacks, hand trucks, forklifts and reach trucks throughout your shift to move inventory, so prior warehouse experience with PIT equipment is a must. If you're a team player and passionate about high-quality food, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do

  • Safely operate PIT equipment, such as forklifts and reach trucks, in a busy, temperature-controlled warehouse environment
  • Wear assigned protective clothing (PPE) for alternating between frozen (0 to -10F) and refrigerated (40-45F) environments
  • Unload palletized deliveries using motorized pallet jacks and forklift trucks
  • Transfer pallets of inventory to and from the walk-in freezers using forklifts and reach trucks
  • Pick pallets and cases from freezers for orders and stage them for scheduled pickups
  • Verify truck readiness for food transportation at pickup and drop off time, including assessing level of cleanliness and verifying appropriate truck temperatures
  • Safely load pallets onto client trucks in an organized and timely manner
  • Manage inventory, including checking in deliveries and maintaining accurate inventory counts through use of the RF scanner and inventory tracking system
  • Assist with general warehouse tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment, such as breaking down cardboard boxes
  • Complete general duties pertaining to the continued operation of the business, such as completing drop-off and pick-up paperwork
  • Exercise good judgment and attention to detail when problems arise

What You'll Bring

  • 1+ years of experience using reach trucks, hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts in a warehouse environment
  • Flexible, team-oriented attitude
  • Reliable transportation to our warehouse in Tewksbury, MA and excellent work attendance
  • Willingness to get hands dirty and jump in to do whatever needs to get done
  • Ability to lift and move 35-50 pounds
  • Basic math skills, such as counting, adding and subtracting cases and pallets without a calculator
  • Must be comfortable working with heights (50ft-60ft)

Bonus points if you have...

  • 3+ years of experience using reach trucks, hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts in a warehouse environment
  • Experience working in a temperature-controlled facility (our storage bays are held at -10F and our shipping/receiving dock is held at 40-45F)
