Job Summary

This leading chemical business is seeking an Inventory Planner to manage inventory levels and ensure the seamless flow of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in our chemical business. The Inventory Planner will play a key role in optimizing stock levels, improving operational efficiency, and supporting customer satisfaction by ensuring timely product availability.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels to meet production and customer demand while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory turnover rates and optimize reorder points and quantities.

Demand and Supply Planning:

  • Analyze sales forecasts, historical data, and market trends to develop accurate inventory plans.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and sales teams to align inventory with operational requirements.
  • Adjust inventory strategies based on seasonal, market, and customer demand variations.

Procurement Coordination:

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and chemicals.
  • Track purchase orders and resolve supply chain issues such as delays or shortages.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to negotiate favorable terms and improve supply reliability.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Use inventory management software and tools to track key metrics, generate reports, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates on inventory status, risks, and performance to stakeholders.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure inventory storage and handling comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements specific to chemicals.
  • Maintain proper documentation for hazardous materials, including safety data sheets (SDS).

Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies in inventory planning and supply chain operations.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Chemistry, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in inventory planning, supply chain, or a related role, preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Knowledge of chemical industry regulations and hazardous material handling is a plus
