Description Acara Solutions is looking for an Inventory Services Associate to join our growing global client in Cambridge, MA. Shift Available 1st Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-4pm Pay Rate: $25.00/hr. MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inventory management tasks, including handling consumables, chemicals, and samples. Ensures accurate inventory control, processes requests for inventory movement on and off-site, and fulfills customer metric reporting.
  • Performs inventory-related functions such as monitoring slow-moving and obsolete inventory, conducting cycle counts, performing annual physical inventories, and generating reports.
  • Provides daily customer service and communicates with clients regarding inventory management.
  • May be required to perform purchasing functions, including but not limited to back-order reporting, expediting, direct factory shipments, third-party support, managing quotes, document control, records maintenance, and resolving open invoices or pricing issues.
  • Manages all customer service-related tasks, including order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking.
  • Coordinates shipping activities, including shipping customer materials, addressing routine issues, operating basic warehouse equipment, entering shipping information into the customer system, and conducting equipment inspections.
  • Handles hazardous materials, ensuring proper shipping documentation and compliance with packaging requirements.
  • Interfaces directly with key stakeholders, including customer contacts, purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers.
  • Manages consigned, non-consigned, customer-owned, or third-party inventory.
  • Utilizes company and customer computer systems (e.g., SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Inventory Management Systems, ChemSW, and other customer-specific platforms) to fulfill job duties.
  • Meets company goals and objectives related to safety, performance, and quality.
  • Develops programs to enhance service efficiencies.
  • Collaborates with Sales Force and manufacturer representatives.
  • Documents change management processes.
  • Responsible for the desktop delivery of inbound packages to customer contacts.
  • Updates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsRequired Skills / Qualifications: 1) High school diploma or GED 2) Must have 2+ years' recent experience in material handling/inventory replenishment or customer service Preferred Skills / Qualifications: 1) Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG and OSHA Right to Know a plus 2) Cross referencing and inside sales experience a plus 3) Knowledge of scientific products and services a plus Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Complies with all company and customer requirements for background checks, health and safety regulations, and security clearances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including intermediate skills in Word and Excel.
  • Strong understanding and experience in shipping, inventory management, or purchasing.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional, can-do attitude.
  • High regard for safety, quality, and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing tasks independently; forward-thinking.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Knowledge of scientific products and services is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and internal teams.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel may be required.
Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort
  • Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise levels.
  • Work assignments are diverse, often requiring the use of past precedents to resolve problems. In some cases, new solutions may need to be developed.
  • A frequent volume of work and tight deadlines may create routine stress.
  • Minimal physical effort is required. While the work is primarily sedentary, it may involve walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying objects typically weighing less than 20 lbs.
