Job Description

The Inventory Control Specialist position is responsible for maintaining accuracy of inventory levels, facilitating intra-company shipments, establishing inventory locations, and maintaining relationships with key personnel at Cornerstone Building Brands facilities, and vendors, to ensure competitive timely receipt of material.

  • Work with the Supervisors, Operations Manager and/or Plant Manager to establish dedicated locations and labels for all material in the facility
  • Work with Intracompany Coordinators to move material efficiently, as needed to other facilities
  • Review inventory transactions
  • Monitor inventory levels and inventory movements to ensure appropriate levels of inventory are maintained to meet customer demand
  • Receive material into inventory system
  • Work with Supply Chain Team to recommend optimum inventory levels are maintained
  • Facilitate the cycle count program
  • Compile the consumables count at month end
  • Identify root cause and process improvements for any inventory discrepancies
  • Review compiled inventory reports and enter inventory adjustments to balance as needed
  • Present reports and recommendations to management regarding product choices and stocking levels to promote profitability
  • Maintain inventory records in accordance with company records retention policy
  • Facilitate management of certificates of origin / MTR's for completed jobs
  • Support compliance for audits
  • Lead site Physical Inventory activities
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion

Qualifications: Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing or production setting
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Strong technical acumen that includes, MS Office Suite and Data Entry
  • Ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think and respond quickly and adjust operations in response to unplanned events
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Attention and care required to prevent errors
  • Ability to read simple to complex documents in which considerable inference may be required
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
