Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations on a small or mid-sized (or portion of a mid-sized) project. Develops and directs implementation of overall project material management plan to include project material procedures, facility needs, personnel requirements, inventory stock levels, detailed material management systems (manual or automated) and overall project material security plan. #LI-SF1

Telework Designation: Full-Time In Office: This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Major Responsibilities:

* Responsible for material management operations for project temporary operating and jobsite locations to ensure conformance to corporate, global business unit and project policies and procedures including:

* The receipt, inspection, storage, inventory control (manual and/or automated), physical security and issue of materials and equipment.

* Initiating actions to identify and dispose of material and equipment declared excess to project needs by project management

* Prepares or assists in the preparation of initial organizational charts for material management activities at temporary operating and jobsite locations. Submits proposed changes for approval of the Materials Manager.

* Assists Materials Manager in preparing Field Procurement workhour estimates. Monitors employee utilization throughout the duration of the project, recommending applicable changes to the Materials Manager.

* Assists the Materials Manager in staffing project temporary operating and jobsite locations. Recommends long-range personnel requirements and assists Materials Manager in coordinating the timely staffing of required positions.

* Prepares recommendations for facilities and equipment necessary to provide for professional material management operations at project temporary and jobsite locations, as specifically directed by the Materials Manager. This activity begins as early as practical in the planning stages and continues throughout the project.

* Directs the preparation of procedures and instructions establishing material management responsibilities and methods of operations pertaining to material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations. This responsibility specifically includes but is not limited to project procedures and individual job instructions.

* Continually reviews performance at the temporary operating and jobsite locations in order to validate personnel staffing requirements and determine that performance conforms to standards as reflected in project Procurement procedures and jobsite instructions.

* Establishes site-specific metrics to measure performance of field material management, including manhours per deliverable, cycle time reduction for receiving, issuing, and recording of data.

* Assists Materials Manager in establishing and monitoring a continuing program to dispose of surplus materials and equipment as it is identified as excess to project needs by project management.

* Implements on-going training programs for assigned personnel.

* Supervises material management operations of personnel assigned to a small sized project to ensure conformance to corporate, global business unit and project policies and procedures in all disciplines and functional areas for which material management is responsible including the receipt, inspection, storage, inventory control (manual and/or automated), physical security and issue of materials and equipment

* Identifies the need and completing the action for all UOS&D material and equipment received at project temporary operating and jobsite locations

* Initiates actions to identify and dispose of material and equipment declared excess to project needs by project management

* Directs the preparation of procedures and instructions establishing material management responsibilities and methods of operations pertaining to material management activities at project temporary operating and jobsite locations.

* Continually reviews performance at the temporary operating and jobsite locations to validate personnel staffing requirements and determine that performance conforms to standards as reflected in project Procurement procedures and jobsite instructions

Education and Experience Requirements:

* Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

* Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

* Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

* Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.

* Knowledge of the essential elements of a field materials management organization.

* Knowledge of skills necessary to fill clerical, warehouse craft, and warehouse supervision positions.

* Knowledge and understanding of how automated materials management systems keep control of project materials.

* Good organizational and planning skills.

* Knowledge of materials management principals relating to construction projects, such as planning, work packaging, just-in-time deliveries, issue on receipt, jurisdiction for delivered goods.

* Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

* Ability to maintain a direct working relationship with a variety of contacts including but not limited to other Procurement colleagues, Project Management, Engineering, Government Agencies, vendors, Accounts Payable, Quality Control, and craft and clerical personnel.
