IT Applications Intern - Stellar Industries : Job Details

The Information Technology Applications intern will be involved in the full lifecycle of software applications, including design, development, testing, and troubleshooting, while collaborating with teams to enhance features and documenting technical specifications. They willalso assist in data analysis tasks, such as collecting and organizing data, designing solutions, and creating visualizations to communicate findings. Additionally, the intern will engage in special projects, work autonomously or within teams, and actively seek to learn various aspects of InformationTechnology roles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Application Development and Maintenance:
• Participate in the design, development, and testing of software applications.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in existing applications.
• Contribute to the enhancement and optimization of application features and functionalities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement solutions.
• Document technical specifications, code changes, and user guides.
• Data Analysis
• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to design and implement data analysis solutions.
• Assist in creating visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Research and perform work on special projects as assigned.
• Take direction on assignments and then work autonomously or with appropriate team(s) to accomplish assignment objectives.
• Complete assignments or projects in a timely, effective, and confidential manner.
• Actively meet and speak with Information Technology employees to learn the various aspects and responsibilities of their jobs.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Competencies:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders, and to document technical processes.
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and propose effective solutions.
• Experience creating clear and effective data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or matplotlib.
• Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and experience in writing SQL queries.
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to group projects.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail when coding, testing, and debugging applications to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and tools quickly to adapt to evolving project requirements. Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Understanding of end-user needs and the ability to develop solutions that meet customer requirements and improve user experience.
• General knowledge of applications including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office suite, Power BI, and SQL.

Education and/or Experience:

• At least two years of concentrated coursework in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a closely related IT (Information Technology) discipline.
• A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
