Overview: IT Clinical Application Specialist

Heritage is seeking a dedicated Clinical Application Specialist to join our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and optimizing our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and building robust data analytics solutions to support clinical and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will work closely with clinical teams to understand their needs, customize the EHR system accordingly, and ensure data integrity and accessibility for comprehensive analytics in a behavioral health environment. Remote or hybrid options will be considered.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • EHR Development and Customization: Collaborate with clinical staff and IT teams to design, develop, and implement EHR workflows that enhance clinical efficiency and patient care within the CCBHC model.
  • EHR Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support for the EHR system, troubleshooting issues, managing updates, and ensuring optimal performance and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Develop and maintain data analytics solutions and dashboards to support clinical decision-making, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance reporting.
  • Training and User Support: Conduct training sessions and create user documentation to ensure clinical staff are proficient in using the EHR system and data analytics tools effectively.
  • Integration and Interoperability: Ensure seamless integration of the EHR with other clinical and administrative systems, including telehealth platforms, patient portals, and billing systems, to support comprehensive care delivery.
  • Compliance and Data Security: Maintain data integrity, security, and confidentiality in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and CCBHC certification standards.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between clinical teams, IT, and external vendors to ensure that the EHR system and analytics tools meet the evolving needs of the clinic.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data trends, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes to enhance clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement: Document EHR configurations, customizations, and data analytics processes. Continuously evaluate and improve application workflows to enhance efficiency and user experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in EHR systems (EchoVantage preferred) and experience with EHR customization and configuration.
  • Strong skills in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma).
  • Experience in building reports and dashboards for clinical use.
  • Understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and data integration techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across clinical and technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHR implementation, support, and optimization, with a strong background in data analytics in a healthcare setting, preferably within a CCBHC or behavioral health environment.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000 per year ($33.65 to $45.65 per hour) - dependent on education and experience
