Systems AdministratorGeneral Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an exciting opportunity for an RF Spectrum Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) in the research of Counter Unmanned Aviation Systems (CUAS). This research includes both detection systems (Passive, Radar, EO/IR cameras, and other technologies) along with mitigation systems (Actives transmitters, “net captures” and associated technologies). The candidate applying for this position shall have a thorough and in-depth understanding of spectrum analyzers and emitter systems and will document and present spectrum analysis on the systems under test for the preparation and guidance to FAA for use on airports.The candidate will support GDIT program with UAS detection and mitigation technology/system research, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) efforts. The Employee will support development of ‘performance specifications' framework for UAS detection and mitigation technology with the objective of creating Advisory Circulars or other FAA guidance and policy documents.HOW AN IT/NETWORK SPECIALIST MAKES AN IMPACTProvide routine technical support in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architecturesTroubleshoots system hardware and software issuesTrains end users on the proper use of hardware and softwarePerforms basic software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packagesMonitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levelsEnsures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutionsEnsure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operationsConducts basic hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelinesEnsures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network usersMay evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategiesWHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA/BS or equivalent, 6+ years of experience. 6 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. Master's Degree, MBA, or PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.Required Experience: Minimum 6 years of demonstrated relevant experienceMust possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid US PassportREQUIRED SKILLSRequired Technical Skills: Provides expertise in compiling, arranging, storing and retrieval of information to facilitate support of the FAA customer, project, or program. Administers, evaluates, installs, maintains and provides overall support for LANs and WANs. Provides access to many databases, using the latest access tools available such as Java, Python, C++, etc.Designs, tests and implements interface programs, develops security procedures, and regulates usage. Performs planning, cost analysis and all aspects of large-scale projects.Designs, tests, and implements large scale LAN and WAN networks applications and troubleshoots problem areas.Coordinates network policy, procedures, and standards. Assists training of users.Security Clearance Level: FAA SuitabilityRequired Skills and Abilities: Able to present technical information to technical and non-technical audiences. Self-Starter. Highly collaborative. Capable of planning and fully executing IT and Network Administrative projects. On-Time completion of deliverables that meet customer quality requirements. Familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.Preferred Skills: Creating and executing test plans and procedures, data analysis, data visualization.
