Do you have experience monitoring environmental equipment in a high-volume data center as well as providing excellent help desk support? Multnomah County IT is currently seeking an Information Specialist 2 (IS2) to ensure that systems in our DataCenter stay up to date, patched, and compliant. In case of outages for County staff, you'll identify the issue across different systems and take action to fix it. If a quick resolution isn't possible, you'll collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and address the problem. The IS2 also provides support during busy times, nights, and weekends for customer issues reported to the IT Help Desk. This is designated as an essential employee position and has a continuous duty schedule. The shift assigned to this position is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Primary Job Duties Monitor IT systems and services, including network, servers, storage, voice and data communications, applications, and hardware. Review systems (CPU and Memory) as required to identify possible performance issues causing outages or service interruptions to applications or servers. Perform documented procedures to resolve issues or escalate events to appropriate IT support teams. If no documented procedure exists, assess the situation on how best to resolve the issue. Document all resolved or unresolved issues and provide accurate and timely reporting for current issues, shift communications, and daily reports. Analyze and review Operations processes, provide input on enhancements and/or feedback •Make recommendations for missing documents or process improvements. Install, rack, cable, support and operate IT hardware within the Data Center. (Includes - Servers, Storage, Network hardware, monitors, personal computers, controllers, modems, printers, disk drives, tape drives, and other like IT systems) •Ensure all asset records are updated and maintained. •Respond to IT Help Desk calls To Qualify We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: •At least one year of experience in direct customer voice and data communications, software, internal applications, hardware or operations support that includes providing support to staff in the operation, maintenance and installation of computer systems, AND Equivalent to an associate's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology or a closely related field. (Additional experience may substitute for education.)
