This position oversees the implementation and management of Vincennes University's information security systems. They will collaborate with members of VU's IT Team, and other external stakeholders to provide guidance on information security initiatives.Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the IT Security Analyst position. This is a full-time professional staff position located at the VU Main site.Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform immediate actions to contain and mitigate identified cybersecurity issues detected by various platforms or reported by end users.
- Perform forensic analysis, intrusion correlation, threat hunting, and direct system remediation to contain threats.
- Install security measures and operate information security software and tools to protect systems and data including firewalls, IDS/IPS, Next Gen AV & EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, email security, and DLP software.
- Work with different departments and units across the University to keep information assets updated and secure.
- Conduct independent comprehensive assessments of the management, operational, and technical security controls and control enhancements employed within or inherited by an information technology (IT) system to determine the overall effectiveness of the controls.
- Research security enhancements and make recommendations to IT leadership.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to analyze information, think critically, and identify anomalies within information systems/data.
- Experience with centralized logging and SIEM technologies.
- Understanding of the different types of information security threats and attack patterns.
- Understanding of computer networking protocols, web application protocols, and enterprise system architecture.
- Knowledge of current and emerging information security tools, applications, and services.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree, or hold an associates degree with three to five years of experience in Information Technology.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or EC-Council CEH are preferred.
