Position Summary As a Journeyman Lineman at Oncor, your duties include the performance of construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with Oncor Construction Standards Manuals. A Journeyman Lineman shall be proficient in all aspects of line work. Work is done on conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages using approved protective equipment. This person will be required to work off wood poles, ladders and bucket trucks using approved safety practices and rules. This position will report on-site to our 2118 S. Bowen Rd - Pantego, TX Service Center. Additional Duties:
- Provide leadership and training for employees in lower classifications. Journeyman Lineman shall possess the skills and knowledge needed to be assigned to lead a Crew in the absence of a Crew Supervisor.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions during both normal and extended working hours.
- Must be available for a regular call out schedule and be available in other emergency situations or when needed, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Must be physically able to lift 75 pounds. Responsible for maintaining assigned vehicles and equipment resulting in minimal down time.
- Responsible for his/ her personal safety at all times, as-well-as the safety of other employees and the public.
- Employee is expected to be a positive team player and shall abide by all aspects of the Code of Conduct.
- Employee shall participate in the local safety programs.
- Upon satisfying training requirements, the successful candidate shall be able to perform the duties of being assigned to a service truck and acting as a first responder during normal working hours, after hours and in the on-call rotation.
- Employee will be required to be on-call in the scheduled rotation, be available for overtime work and 24-hour call-out and be willing to travel outside the district when needed.
- Expected to report within 60 minutes to the assigned service center with 30 minutes or less preferred.
- This position is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Skills:
- Basic computer skills and software such as, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Outlook a plus.
- Good communication skills are essential to perform in a team environment.
Education & Experience:
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of related distribution utility construction work experience required.
- Must have a valid Texas Class A CDL required.
- Applicants with a certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school or an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology with 4+ years of related distribution utility construction work experience encouraged to apply.
- Able to provide proof of successful lineman and safety training programs.
